One hundred and thirty-seven novices have been invested into the Order
of Knight of Saint Christopher by the Bishop on the Niger, Right
Reverend Owen Nwokolo.
The event, which took place at the All Saints Cathedral Church
Onitsha, has among the knights, five Dames.
Correspondent, Ogochukwu Oranu reports that candidates for the
Knighthood after presentation and examination by the Bishop took oath
of allegiance to God.
In a sermon, titled’ Knights, The Mighty Men of Church’, Bishop
Nwokolo said Knights are know by their life styles, dispositions and
actions stressing that what one does for the church, qualifies him/her
for the position of Knighthood.
The Bishop told the new Knights that their
investiture is a call to duty in the church of God charging them to always emulate the life of
Saint Christopher and the Biblical David and his soldiers, who laid
their lives for Christ.
Speaking at the ceremony , one of the new Knights, Sir Clement Chukwuka, who is the
MD/CEO, Anambra State Small Business Agency, ASBA, expressed
happiness at the investiture promising to work harder for the church
and the state pointing out that ASBA took the first position in
Nigeria, which is a testimony of his efforts and in line with Governor
Obiano’s vision.
Others including Barrister Mike Moughalu and Dr Nnamdi Ikpeze assured
their readiness to put in their best in the service of the church.
Presentation of the Scroll, the Sword of Spirit to the Knights,
signing of oath and pledge to the Chancellor of the Diocese on the
Niger featured during the investiture that attracted personalities
from all walks of life including Anambra State Commissioners for
Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, that of
Diaspora Affairs, Mr. Christian Madubuko, Mr. Uchenna Okafor of the
Transport Ministry and the member representing Ogbaru One
Constituency, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze among others.
