The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Affairs has charged the Idemmili South Local Government Area to be mindful of Procurement Law in the country.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the committee gave the directive when it embarked on oversight function at the Local Government Area.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the committee, Dr. Pete Ibida explained that the visit was designed to ascertain if the Local Government Area executed their capital projects in line with the procurement law and to make amends where necessary.
He made it clear that it was not calculated to witch-hunt anybody but to guide the local government in all their undertakings so that they will not derail form the Procurement Law.
The Committee however commended the council for keeping their records straight and charged the council to always improve on their processes.
It observed that they executed significant projects in 2019 and urged them to be steadfast.
In his remark, the Transition Committee Chairman, Idemmmili South Local Government Area, Mr. Don Unachukwu, described the meeting as learning moment for the Local Council and assured that they will carry out the directives of the committee.
