The current Miss Nigeria, Etsanyi Tukura has commended the Anambra State government for initiating the Anambra Teaching On Air programme in the state’s Education sector, and called for its replication in other parts of Nigeria.

Miss Nigeria gave the commendation at the ASUBEB complex in Awka during the presentation of certificates of appreciation to teachers that are participating in the Anambra Teaching On Air programme by the State government through the Ministry of Basic Education.

Anambra Teaching On Air programme is a partnership between the State Ministry of Basic Education and Anambra Broadcasting Service.

Describing the On Air teaching as one of the methods of teaching which should be adopted in this twenty-first century, Miss Tukura commended Anambra state government for such lauded feat achieved in the Education Sector, saying that such is a true testimony that the present administration is future conscious and has the Anambra children at heart, even as she called for the replication of the programme in other parts of the country to make the Education sector of the nation more viable.
The Miss Nigeria disclosed that her office is poised to champion the cause of the girl child, saying that one of the projects through which the office tends to promote and improve issues that concern the girl child is the Girls Lead Club it launched in the state few days ago.

The Executive Director Whispering Hope Africa Initiative, Lady Nkechi Udegboka encouraged teachers to always take note of their day to day professional activities and to give room for improvement so as to remain relevant in the profession and to measure up with their counterparts in other parts of the world.

On his part, the President Rotary Club of Awka Central, Mr Tim Nwabunwanne while presenting one thousand copies of DVD of the On Air teaching produced by the club to the Commissioner for Basic Education, described education as the backbone of any society, and stressed the need for massive support to the sector for positive results.

Present at the event were the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officers of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, Mr Linus Nwankwo, among others.
