The ongoing work in Awka City Stadium will be completed December, 2020.

The assurance was given  by Governor Willie Obiano when he  inspected progress
of work on the project which was commissioned about one month ago by
his administration.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that Governor Obiano who said that the Stadium is a FIFA recognized project, expressed satisfaction that   the project  would bring a new dawn  to the State Sports sub sector


According to the Chairman of  State Sports Development Commission, Chief Tony
Oli, the two male and female Anambra football teams called Anambra
Bombers and Anambra Babes will play the maiden edition of their matches
on 28 December 2020, adding that sports has started to assume its
rightful position in the state.

A FIFA Agent and Contractor of the project, Mr. Ebi Egbe, who was on
ground to take the Governor round the facility, explained that the
project is  of international standard with hybrid pitch that has warranty of fourteen
years.

He said that the stadia have  track cast base with nine centimeter of
asphalt, compacted to eight centimeter, two perimeter fences and
dedicated pavilion for the physically impaired and assured  of delivery
in record time.
