The Anambra State House of Assembly has renewed the tenure of the
Transition Committee Chairmen of the twenty one Local Government Areas
in the state for another three months.
The House renewed their tenure in line with section two hundred and
eight of the local government law as requested by Governor Willie
Obiano during yesterday’s plenary.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that the House reconfirmed all the twenty one Transition Committee Local
Government Chairmen at the committee of the whole.
The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor read out the
confirmation of their appointments, while the lawmakers supported it
through a voice vote.
In his remark, the Speaker charged the Local Government Transition
Committee Chairmen to make the yearnings and aspirations of their
people their utmost priority and join hands with Governor Willie
Obiano in ensuring that their local governments feel the impact of his
lofty projects.
In a vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Idemmili North
Local Government Area, Mr. Raphael Nnabuife who spoke unbehalf of
other Transition committee Chairmen, commended Governor Obiano for
giving them another opportunity to pilot the affairs of their local
government areas as well as the House for confirming their
appointments.
Similarly, the Transition Committee Chairman, Orumba South Local
Government Area. Mr. Cypril Okereke stated that he will strive to
attract dividends of democracy to the people of Orumba South Local
Government Area and ensure full realization of Governor Obiano’s
vision for the state.
