Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB, through the
office of Planning, Research, Statistics and Procurement, has
commenced public bid opening for UBE 2017,2018 projects in the area of
anti corruption and transparency.

The public bid opening held at ASUBEB Utility Hall had in attendance
ASUBEB Board members, members of the public, officials of the private
sector, professional organizations and civil society organizations.

Education Correspondent Theophilus Ukoha was there and  reports that the Executive Chairman ASUBEB, Chief Patrick Ugboaja, in his speech
said the bid opening is the first step towards implementing the
2017,2018 UBE projects in line with transparency guidelines devoid of
corruption.
He assured that all who submitted their bids will not be cheated or
marginalized as all protocols and procedures of bid opening will be
observed.

The ASUBEB boss however said the first step of the bid opening is the
technical biding to be followed by financial biding and only those who
met the stipulated procedures and guidelines will be selected.

The Director Planning Research Statistics and Procurement Department
ASUBEB, Chief Uchenna Ezeani, who had earlier reminded all the
stipulated procedures,  said in line with transparency and due process
ASUBEB board placed advertisement for the project biddings in two
national dailies and federal tenders journals stating the guidelines
and all procedures.

In their separate reactions, some of the public and officials of the
private sector and professional organizations who witnessed the bid
opening,  including Mr. Chukwuka Isaac of Civil Rights Concerns, Mrs. Jacinta
Obeta of Care Trust Development Initiative, Mrs. Ebele Okafor of
Advocacy for Transparency Network and Freeman Ugochi of Creative Minds
Development Initiative  expressed satisfaction with   compliance to  due
process and transparency guidelines of the bid opening.

Over six hundred companies are bidding for about one hundred and
ninety-seven contracts available for the 2017, 2018 UBE projects in
the State.
