The human race is today marking the third World Iodine Day.

Also known as Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) Prevention Day,
it stands out as a body that sees the world creating awareness about
the deficiency of Iodine in the human body.

A statement from a nongovernmental partner in the promotion of the
day, Louis Love Nest Foundation says iodine is micronutrient required
for the proper functioning of the human body system.

Today’s celebration of the day in Nigeria will feature the
commemoration of one of the Pioneer Campaigners for the end of the
scourge of Iodine deficiency in the country, Professor Onuora Louis
Victor Ekpechi.

Professor Ekpechi along with his Medical Team, made immense
contributions to the Iodine Deficiency Disorder and Endocrinology in
West Africa and the world at large as his discoveries created more
awareness about the need for the inclusion of Iodine in people’s daily
meals.

In light of this celebration, the entire membership of the Louis Love
Nest Foundation will be embarking on an IDD Media Tour spanning across
different media houses, starting from today.

In addition there will be a Webinar by Dr A. Ola Odugbesan, North
Atlanta based Endocrinologist on the Topic: Iodine Deficiency
Disorders and Sustaining Micro Nutrients and iodine Fortification in
COVID 19 Era.

According to Ndali Modebe Chairman and Media strategist of Louis Love
Nest Foundation, the Media Tour would feature a documentary showing
exclusive, and groundbreaking, background stories, untold and deep
experiences and fond memories of Professor Ekpechi, his wife and
Matriarch of the Iodine Empire Matron Georgina Ekpechi.
