Coalition of youths in Onitsha South Council Area have engaged in a peaceful walk to call for peace and an end to violence in the state.

The peaceful walk kicked off from Central School Odoakpu down to Onitsha South Local Government Headquarter.

Over a hundred youths gathered at Central School Odoakpu with banners written “Onitsha South Youths say Stop Robbery and Crime” “Stop Burning Anambra State”, “We Are Builders Not Destroyers”, others had placards with inscriptions such as “Onitsha Youths say No to Violence”, No to Fighting”, “No to Looting”, “Let Peace Reign” Among Others.

Addressing the youths, the Chairman, Onitsha South Council Area, Hon. Emeka Asoanya said Violence has never solved any problem, neither has crime.

Hon. Asoanya pointed out that the youths of Onitsha South are not known for violence or destruction of property, hence the need for them to rise and protect their community from hoodlums.

He urged the youths and residents of the area not to be involved in vandalization of public and private properties but rather unite to restore normalcy in the area.

On his part, the mayor, Anambra State Association of Town Union ASATU, Comrade Arinze Ifeajuna said, the voice of the youths have been heard through the ENDSARS protest, pointing out that there is no gain in causing chaos in the state.

He said the aim of the walk is to call for peace in the community and state.
