Governor Willie Obiano has toured facilities burnt and vandalised during the civil unrest which followed the #ENDSARS protest.

Governor Obiano was accompanied by all the security Chiefs in the state including the police, army, navy and the DSS.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that places visited include Divisional Police Office, Osumenyi, Area Command Headquarters, Nnewi, Ekwusigo Central Police station and Area Command, Oraifite, Nigeria Police Divisional Headquarters, Ogidi, among others.

At Osumenyi, the Divisional Police Officer and two police officers reportedly lost their lives to the violence, four vehicles were burnt, while their property were vandalised.

At the Area Command Headquarters, Nnewi, over ten vehicles including an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and the building were burnt.

However, no life was lost, while vehicles and other facilities were vandalized at Ekwusigo Central Police station and Area Command, Oraifite.

While commending the youths for helping to bring the situation under control, Governor Obiano said that the visit was to personally assess the damages, calling on notable community members to continue supporting the police to restore normalcy.

Governor Obiano expressed optimism that the police have learnt their lessons while the protest lasted, pointing out that it is a call to increased professionalism and called on youths and the vigilante groups to support the police for maximum security.

He warned against harrassment of law enforcement agents in Anambra state.

Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang who conducted the Governor round some of the facilities, explained that at Oraifite, the officers stood their ground when the attackers came, but were overpowered after they regrouped and came the second time.

Violence and unrest marred the #ENDSARS protest resulting in destruction of police stations and private property in the state.
