In line with the directives by Governor Willie Obiano to Ndi Anambra to guard and protect their communities from intruders who have been engaging in wanton destruction and looting of public and private property, the Transition Committee chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Chief Cyprian Okereke, has organized a joint stakeholders meeting in the council area.

In attendance were leaders of youth groups, vigilante services, town unions, transport unions, market unions, security and service agencies as well as other stakeholders in Orumba South to ensure adequate security of lives and property.

Addressing the gathering at Umunze, Chief Okereke expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the Umunze youths and other security operatives in supporting government in the fight against vandalization and looting of public property in the area.

He noted that Orumba South is known for peace and urged them to monitor their boundaries to prevent hoodlums from attacking the council area.

Chief Okereke while condemning the activities of hoodlums across the state commended Governor Obiano for his maturity and commitment towards ensuring a lasting solution to the recent protests in the state.

In his speech, the President-General of Umunze Progressive Union, Chief John Akanyeonu represented by Mr. Ejiofor Ikechukwu, while commending the Orumba South Council Chairman, Chief Okereke for his security consciousness, assured that Umunze community is ready to resist attempts by the hoodlums and promised the people a peaceful environment.

Also in their separate remarks, the President of Umunze Youths, Mr. Amaechi Enye and Chairman Umunze Vigilante services, Mr. Nlelanya Chukwuka represented by Mr. Christopher Ojeanya assured of adequate security in the council area.
