Property worth millions of naira has been destroyed by fire at number one Oshimili Lane, Nkpor-Agu.
The incident, which affected a residential building and shops, left many in a state of agony.
The inferno, linked to electrical fault, occurred around twelve midnight.
On arrival at the scene, ABS observed that some of the shops were still in flames with passers-by and residents, lamenting the ugly development.
Narrating his ordeal, the Landlord of the building, Mr. Afam Okafor said they were asleep when a thunderous spark emanated from the front of the building with heavy smoke engulfing the atmosphere.
Attributing the damage to electrical fault from the nearby transformer, Mr. Okafor lamented that they lost all their property to the inferno even as he declared that they are now homeless.
According to an eye witness, Mrs. Amaka Nzeakor, efforts of their neighbours, could not salvage the situation.
Report said men of the Fire Service, who came to put off the inferno could not gain access into the building.
Some of the victims, whose shops were razed including a patent medicine dealer Mrs. Gladys Iloabuchi, an electrical dealer, Mr. Leo Odor and a tailor, Cynthia Ude, who lost her four machines to the inferno as well as widow, Mrs. Nneamaka Okafor, lamented that goods purchased and stocked for the Christmas season, where all lost calling for government assistance to enable them regain their means of livelihood.
Sympathizing with the victims over the huge loss, the Director of Operations, Anambra Traffic Agency, Mr. Samuel Eze-Nduka, encouraged them not to lose hope, over their plight and promised to draw state government’s attention.
