The interaction on the 2021 Appropriation bill by the Anambra State House of Assembly with ministries, parastatals and agencies has commenced at the legislative complex in Awka.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that while speaking to journalists after interfacing with the ministry of Economic Planning and Development Partners on the 2021 Appropriation bill, the Chairman House committee on finance and appropriation, Chief Obinna Emeneka explained that they started with the ministry in order to have an insight into the budget estimate as the information obtained from them will enable the committee to access all the ministries that will appear before it.
Chief Emeneka who described the ministry as key stakeholder in the articulation and formulation of the appropriation bill revealed that the ministry was able to defend what necessitated the indices upon which allocations to ministries were made, adding that their interaction with the ministry is very satisfactory. UP SOT On his part, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Mark Okoye explained that the 2021 appropriation bill will pay more attention to critical areas such as health, education, food security, works, water and sanitation among others.
The Commissioner made it clear that the state government will use the 2021 budget estimate to tackle unemployment in the state, boost internally generated revenue, construct roads that have economic importance to the State and are very strategic to achieving a realistic budget.
Also at the meeting, the ministries of Transport, Finance, Transport Company of Anambra State and Anambra Traffic Management Agency appeared before the committee and defended their budget estimate for 2021.
