Members of the Anambra State House of Assembly have been urged to ensure accelerated passage of the 2021 Appropriation Bill as they promised.

Speaking in Awka, the State President of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene commended Governor Willie Obiano for early presentation of the Bill.

Our man Paul Ezeoke reports that Chief Okeke-Ogene noted that early passage of the budget will enable the State government to commence immediate implementation to achieve the desire objectives, urging Ministries, Departments and Agencies to play their parts promptly to enable the lawmakers discharge their duties without delay.

He observed that effective implementation of the budget would enable the government consolidate on achievements already recorded in various sectors which would further reposition the State for sustainable development.

Chief Okeke-Ogene urged residents of the State to be alive to their civic responsibilities through prompt payment of tax and levies to raise the internally generate revenue of the state and provide government with enough funds to carry out its responsibilities.

In his reactions a medical practitioner, Dr Mike Omenugha expressed satisfaction with the lion share allocated to capital project which he noted will translate to increased interventions on physical infrastructure including roads and bridges as well as completion of the Governors legacy projects including the Cargo Airport at Unueri, International Conference Centre in Awka and various sports facilities which he noted would further open up the State economic space, expand employment opportunities and income generation.

Dr Omenugha also pointed out that communities will receive more State government interventions under the third phase of community choose your Project initiative which he said has provided communities with their choice projects.
