The Assistant Inspector General of Police, in charge of Zone 13, Mr Mohammed Danmallam , has appealed to residents of Nnewi in Anambra state to help the police in rebuilding burnt police stations in their area destroyed during the recent #EndSARS protests in the state.

The AIG made the appeal when he led senior officers of men of the Nigeria police in the zone to a courtesy call on the traditional ruler of Nnewi, igwe Kenneth Orizu at his palace .


The AIG was received by the traditional ruler and other stakeholders in the community including Chief Innocent Chukwuma.

While commending members of the community for their resilience and hard work, Mr Danmallam regretted that they lost so many valuables to the crisis, adfing that the police would appreciate help from the community in rebuilding the police stations.

He promised tighter security and more working relationship with the people of the area, as he enjoined the people to work with the police for the actualisation of perfect policing; stressing that security is everyone’s business.

Receiving the AIG and his entourage , igwe Orizu thanked him for the visit and said the attack on innocent police personnel and office was condemnable but made it clear that the community has influx of non indigenes because of its enterprising nature , assuring the AIG that the police stations would be rebuilt by his subjects.
One of the stakeholders Chief Innocent Chukwuma , disclosed that he has started rebuilding the Nnewi Central Police station, as he said that no community can exist without security appealing to the police force to forgive the youths for their misconduct even as he promised that such will not happen again.


The President General of the community Mr Ugochukwu Udemezue commended the AIG and the police in Anambra state for doing a good job during the protest calling on him to ensure that police resume full duties in the community A former chairman Nnewi North local council area Mr Patrick Mbajiaka explained that work will commence on the Area command and Otolo Nnewi police stations before the end of this week.

The AIG later visited the Nnewi central police station where he observed that worked was on going for the rebuilding of the station , and also visited the Nnewi Area Command to ascertain level of damage . Meanwhile , members of Nnewi Traders Association used the occasion to donate a vehicle, Innosson Ikenga , in support of police operations in Anambra.
