Multiple road accidents occurred at Agu Awka, around Ezeuzu junction, leaving ten people injured.
The accident involved a heavy duty truck carrying rice and grain, a commercial bus that was damaged at the rear and other vehicles, including a motorcycle, bringing the number of vehicles involved to five.
Correspondent Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that according to the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi, the accident occurred when the driver of the truck lost control and hit the commercial bus at the rear, which in turn ran into other vehicles on the ever busy road.
Mr. Kumapayi revealed that a total of twenty nine persons were affected in the accident, as ten persons were injured, seven males and three females, who have all been taken to hospital for medical attention.
He advocated installation of speed breakers at government House- area to slow oncoming vehicles, while traffic lights should be installed at Agu Awka area, including remedial work done on the road to help curtail the incessant accidents.
The Sector Commander also reiterated the preparedness of the FRSC to help prevent and manage traffic during the ember months and yuletide period through aggressive enlightenment, management of traffic at flash points.
The presence of personnel of the Commission and the Nigerian Police Force helped manage traffic and render assistance to victims.
