Obiano, Others React To Mrs Obiano’s Sun Newspaper Most Supportive First Lady Award

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has noted that one must not occupy a high position to be able to touch lives.
Governor Obiano stated this while felicitating with his wife, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, who was conferred with Sun Newspaper 2019 Most Supportive First Lady Award in Awka.

While describing his wife as a woman who has made charity a major aspect of her life even before they came into power, Governor Obiano noted that the world will be a better place if people develop the passion to help one another irrespective of what position they occupy in the society.

The Governor, who described his wife as a habitual giver, stated that she has a soft spot for people, especially the less privileged members of the society.
Speaking on the award, the Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Sir Norbert Obi and the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Indigenous Medicine and Herbal Practices, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, described the award as befitting looking back at what Mrs Obiano has achieved with CAFE over the past seven years, noting that it was crucial that her legacies serve as an example for leaders.

On his part, the Traditional Ruler of Umunya, Igwe Sir Kris Onyekwuluje, and the Transition Committee Chairman of Oyi Local Government Area, Engineer Nnamdi Nwadiogbu, said that the award depicts the Governor’s wife’s longtime love for humanity, a cause that she was used to long before her ascension to leadership.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, who attended the event alongside other exco members, said that the award further illustrates the depth of selfless service that should also serve as an inspiration for others.

The Sun Newspaper Most Supportive First Lady Award is reserved for governor’s wives who have invented unique programmes to complement their husbands’ leadership roles and solving some of society’s most crucial needs.

According to the award donor’s, the Sun Newspaper’s Board of Directors usually deliberate on the nominees’ antecedents before choosing the ideal candidate to bestow the award on,and after due screening, Dr Mrs Obiano was chosen for the grand honour unopposed.

She is the first Anambra State’s governor’s wife to clinch the award after her husband, Governor Obiano, won Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year in 2015.
