The Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has donated palliative materials to two hundred indigent persons in Osile Village, Ogbunike, in Oyi Local Government Area to help them brace the economic challenges brought by the coronavirus pandemic.
The less privileged persons, mostly women and the aged, drawn from the four kindreds that make up the village, were given food items.
While addressing the beneficiaries, the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano Mr. Emeka Ozumba, who represented the Governor’s wife at the event, stated that the palliative was to show that the benefactor, Dr Obiano, has the people, especially the poor at heart always, adding that the gifts were a token of love no matter the quantity.
A stakeholder in Ogbunike and Executive Chairman of Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Dr Peter Egenti, as well as the APGA Woman Leader in Oyi Local Government Area, Mrs. Bernice Maduka, in their remarks, said that the gesture was not new in Dr Obiano’s charity model.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Messers Pius Ifeme, Ozoekwe Nwanne and Mrs.
Theresa Okakpu, expressed gratitude and appreciated the Governor’s wife for remembering them with love.
