Residents of Nnewi have commended the government of Anambra State for its zero tolerance for potholes as Anambra Road Maintenance Agency rehabilitates roads in the area.
The Agency commenced rehabilitation work on Izuchukwu Junction and Old Onitsha Road Nnewi, the two major access roads to Nkwo Nnewi and Onitsha respectively.
A staff of the Anambra Traffic Management Agency Mr. Benjamin Nzegwu, who was on duty with his colleagues at Izuchukwu Junction, expressed gratitude to the State Government for filling the potholes.
Mr. Nzegwu noted that the filling of the potholes at Izuchukwu Junction have reduced the challenges being faced by staff of Anambra Traffic Management Agency in the control of traffic in the area.
A trader at the Junction, Mr. Promise Okoli, who thanked Governor Willie Obiano for his people orientated governance, expressed the hope that the palliative work will boost businesses as most Nnewi residents now ply the road unlike in the past.
Another trader Mrs. Joy Udeh, said that she can now display her wares to attract customers.
Messrs Peter Ogah and Dominic Akpan both commercial Motorcyclists said that the palliative work will reduce accidents on the road and improve their earnings as well as save them funds with which they frequently use in maintaining their Motorcycles.
