Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba says cassava growers are fortunate to attract the support of the federal government for enhanced food production.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony of the feed milling equipment to the State Ministry of Agriculture at Oye farm Igbariam in Oyi local government Mr. Onukwuba said that the event is first of its kind for cassava farmers in the state adding that cassava peel which was once regarded as a waste is now useful.
The commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture Mrs. Stephanie Kerriuzor called for proper use of the equipment.
In a key note address the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Abudulkadir Miazu said there is need for stakeholders to be involved in the development of alternative feed ingredients in the Nigerian feed industry.
Represented by Mr. Arthur Mbuba the Permanent Secretary said that there is need for partnership in the agricultural sector for enhanced food production.
Also speaking, the chairman Anambra State Cassava growers Association Mr. Samuel Uzowulu thanked the federal government for its support.
