A one day sensitization workshop on the state COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus has ended with a call on the Committee to streamline the goals and build consensus, cooperation, and support among key players to deliver on its terms of reference.

The programme powered by the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners took place at the Golden Tulip Hotels Agulu Anaocha Local Government Area.

Amaka Chibuzor Okoye reports that while declaring the workshop open, the Commissioner For Economic Planning, Mr. Mark Okoye acknowledge the visionary leadership qualities of Governor Obiano for positioning Anambra to benefit from the project noting that the programme is to mitigate the effect of COVID-19 which the federal government is helping the state to access loan from the World Bank.

Mr. Okoye noted that the workshop is crucial so as to get the actors acquainted with the processes and peculiarities of the programmes and to secure broad stakeholder buy-in.

In his speech, the Commissioner For Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba commended the Governor for all the programms initiated to reduce unemployment and poverty in the state, stating that policy for continuity, complete, commission and commence is reflected in all the sectors of his administration.


The Task Team Leader, World Bank, Professor Foluso Okunmadewa in a zoom commended the state for being the first to implement the programme stating that in as much as it is funded by the bank, that the state should take full ownership, embrace and internerlize it in order to come up with a huge success.

While deliberating on the importance of the workshop, the traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Rowland Odegbo noted that the state has done well in impacting on the lives of Ndi Anambra through all the agencies.

In a power cable illustration, the General Manager of Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu said the implementation plan result focuses on reduction of fragmentation and leverage on contemporaries, increase social transfer, basic services and livelihood support to the poor and vulnerable households.

The workshop was attended by Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Traditional ruler’s, civil society organizations among others.
