More stakeholders have described the recent Sun Newspaper Most Supportive First Lady Award given to the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano, as deserving and exemplary.
The Sun Newspaper Most Supportive First Lady Award is an annual honour that recognizes the efforts of Governor’s wives who have complemented their husbands’ leaderships by embarking on programmes that touches life.
Correspondent, Daniel Ezeigwe examines the opinions of stakeholders on the recent honour given to Dr Obiano in Awka.
According to the award givers, Sun Publishing Limited, the award was unopposedly given to Dr Obiano for her immense role in women and youth development, through the machinery of her non-governmental organization, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE.
Speaking on the award, the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Chieftaincy Matters and Community Liason, Mrs. Vera-Queen Okonkwo, described Dr Obiano as a hope of many less privileged persons and widows, observing that the award was just another evidence of her strong charity course.
On his part, the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, stated that the honour came at the right time, especially as the Governor’s wife has set a standard for social balance and shown that even the poorest person deserves every love he or she can get.
The Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Community Liason, Chief Obi-Ochije Modilim in his reaction, noted that the award was a deserving recognition that further illustrates the depth of Dr Obiano’s kindness, especially as it relates to the poor in Anambra State, calling on the well-to-do to emulate her footsteps.
Contributing the Chairman of Eke Awka Market, Chief Jude Agummadu, who described Governor Willie Obiano and his wife Dr Ebelechukwu as God sent, maintained that the Sun Newspaper most supportive First Lady Award on the Governor’s wife is well deserved.
Chief Agummadu who said that Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has continued to use the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative to touch many lives called for more support to the CAFÉ Initiative.
He used the opportunity to re-assure Governor Willie Obiano of the continued support of the Eke Awka Traders to his administration.
