Good Shepherd Methodist Church Federal Housing Estate 3-3 Onitsha has been inaugurated as a Chaplaincy by the Methodist Bishop Diocese of Onitsha Right Reverend Livinus Onuagha.
The event which took place at the newly constructed building at Arondizuogu Drive Housing Estate also featured the renaming of the church after Eze Jonathan Ukaobasi, who donated the parcel of land where the church is situated.
The event which attracted parishioners and priests from different Circuits also featured the unveiling of signpost by the philanthropist Eze Ukaobasi.
In a sermon Bishop Onuagha stressed the need for Christians to live a sacrificial life for the benefit of others, commending Eze Ukaobasi for donating his land to the church.
Right Reverend Onuagha while recounting Eze Ukaobasi’s contributions towards the growth of the church and evangelism stated that all his good works can never be forgotten while calling on other affluent people in the society to emulate his kind gesture.
In his reaction the Diocesan lay President, Sir Onyekachi Nwaulo noted that Eze Ukaobasi has done so much for the church which brought about the honour of renaming the church after him and called on Christians to give whatever they have for the propagation of the gospel.
Speaking to the ABS in an interview, the son of the philanthropist Prince Christian Ukaobasi said he is challenged by his father’s gesture and promised to keep up his father’s footsteps His wife Gladys reminded Christians that serving God with their wealth pays as they will never encounter any lack.
Eze Johnathan Ukaobasi who is a member Knight of Wesley and the Obi of Umuobi, Ezema Nneato in Umunneochi local government area of Abia State expressed gratitude to God for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of His kingdom on earth.
