Anambra State Community of Persons Living with Disabilities has concluded activities marking its 2020 International Day, with a Holy Mass in Awka.

The Holy Mass, presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, represented by Reverend Father Mathew Attansey, attracted members of the association from all parts of the state, family members, friends and well-wishers.

Bishop Ezeokafor, who lauded members of the association for their doggedness irrespective of their current predicaments, urged them to give God the glory in all things and accept their various conditions with faith as God deposits in them various kinds of talents, skills and ingenuity.

While praying God to always provide and bless them, Bishop Ezeokafor, urged the congregation to learn the art of prayer, abstinence, love and alms giving especially now that the Christendom is joyously waiting for the coming of Jesus Christ.

Speaking shortly after the mass, the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on disability matters, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie thanked God for making the day possible, and showered encomiums on Governor Obiano, whom he described as the most disability inclusive governor in Nigeria, as well as his wife, Dr Ebelechukwu for giving them succour.

The state chairman of the joint National Association of Persons with disabilities, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, who doubled as the Executive Assistant to Governor Obiano on Disability Services, called for all hands to be on deck in ensuring that the disability rights law, which was signed into law in Anambra State in 2018 is being respected and extolled the cathedral for providing access routes into the church for disability persons.

Others present during the Holy Mass were the Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Sign Language Communications, Mr. Collins Joseph and Mr. Ikechukwu Ezeokafor among others.
Special thanksgiving by members of the association added glamour to the Holy Mass.
