All roads will lead to the Cathedral Church of Saint John field, Ekwulobia, tomorrow for a three-day programme titled: “Worship and Word Conference, 2020”. The conference, which begins at 3pm, is part of activities lined up by the Aguata Diocese of the Anglican Communion to make the faithful be in constant touch with their creator.

Its theme, “Jesus Christ, the founder and finisher of our faith”, taking from Hebrews chapter 12, from verses 1 to 4, is apt in order to make the faithful turn to God and seek Him, as there are many false prophets.

So, as we converge on Ekwulobia tomorrow for the worship and word conference, we should bear in mind that God wants us to seek His face. Through the conference, we can learn a lot about God. This is the essence of the Worship and Word Conference, which Bishop Samuel Ezeofor has packaged for his flock.

The fiesta is non denominational. Members of the Anglican Church and those from other denominations will participate in the Worship and Word Conference, which will be presided over by the Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Chukwudi Ezeofor (JP), Ph.D, Ambassador of Peace and National Chairman, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) Nigeria. He will be assisted by other Ministers of God.

Accommodation has been provided for all those that will attend the conference, just as feeding and transportation will also be provided. This is the third time the conference is taking place in the Diocese. Those who attended the first and last editions are still testifying of their spiritual serenity. The conference has both morning and afternoon sessions.

Bishop Ezeofor is using the Worship and Word Conference to commit the spiritual resources of the church to nation building and accelerate the attainment of a developed Nigeria. He has been tackling this through prayers, messages, trainings, healthcare, social work, advocacy and mobilization. Unfortunately, Nigerians are weak in praying for their nation.

Prayers for Nigeria, like what Bishop Ezeofor is doing, should be given prominence and be done consistently. The church should specifically pray for family leadership, political leadership, all arms of government, traditional and religious leaders, the education system and for the unity of the country. Other features of the conference will include salvation, healing, Bible study, deliverance and marriage counseling.

Those who attain prominence in the Bible used prayer to be in constant contact with God. Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ among others, had always relied on prayers for God’s intervention in their problems.

However, we must be careful with those we pray with. This is why Christians should embrace this Worship and Word Conference this Christmas season.

It is unfortunate that many youths have gone into idolatry to boost their businesses, only to regret later. This is a golden opportunity for such lost souls to embrace God and receive their salvation. Others who are going back to the ancient paths should retrace their steps and toe the line of salvation.

In these challenging times, it is important that we continue to seek God’s guidance and support in all our undertakings. And there is no better way to do so than in corporate prayer through the Worship and Word Conference. The faithful should know that salvation only comes from God and that Holy Spirit is not for sale.

This is indeed a good time, the right way to pray for Nigeria, in view of the numerous challenges facing the country such as COVID-19 pandemic and #Endsars unrests. Prayer, like the Worship and Word Conference, must be an important part of nation building because, as the Bible tells us, without His help, we, as builders, would be labouring in vain.
