The negative impact rof Open Defecation, Violence Against Persons, especially the Women and Children as well as the Covid-19 pandemic have been described as serious challenge to healthy living of every right thinking Nigerian.

The Director of the National Orientation Agency in Anambra State Mr. Charles Nwoji, stated this when he led some Members of his Management team on advocacy visit to the President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions ASATU, Chief Alex Onukwue in his Office at the Government House Awka .

Mr. Nwoji, who said that the National Orientation Agency and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, are collaborating in the fight against Open Defecation maintained that the issue of Violence Against Persons was on top increase in Nigeria between the months of May and June this year and blamed it on the people’ inability to understand the law prohibiting the ugly trend in the Country.

While advising the Union to always work towards protecting the rights of the Women and Children at the Community level Mr. Nwoji a lawyer equally told the people to be wary of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, pointing out that it is still very active in the Western world, saying that the people are lowering their guides in the fight against the dreaded disease in the State.

In a remark the President of the National Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Chief Onukwue, confirmed that Open Defecation is deeply associated with a lot of harmful diseases, calling for more sensitization programmes with a view to educating the people more on the inherent dangers of practicing Open Defecation in this twenty -first century.

Chief Onukwue, who advocated the use of Village setting in further educating the people on the dangers of Open Defecation, Violence Against Persons ,especially the Women and Children and that of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, maintained that the rights of the Women and the Children should be always respected in the society.
