Chief Chike Obiechina of Umunnachi in Dunukofia Local Government Area has been presented to the Nzeoba Umunnachi as a full fledge Ozo title holder of the community.

The event which is the final stage of Ozo title taking attracted Ndi Ozo and Ndi Ichie Umunnachi. Mr. Obiechina will hence forth be addressed as “Milli Enwe Ilo na Umunnachi”.

Speaking to the ABS in an interview, his sponsor Reverend Father, Professor Emmanuel Obimma Afunugo who is also a title holder said he initiated the young man who happened to be his cousin into the Nzeoba Umunnachi due to his loyalty.

Reverend Father Professor Afunugo disclosed that Ozo Umunnachi under goes three stages which include Amawu, Ekwu and Njumnaka which is the final stage where the celebrant is presented to the Nzeoba, notifying them that he is now a full member.

The President-General of Umunnachi community Chief Frank Okonkwo and Dr Oliver Onwualu described Ozo title taking in Igbo land as a divine responsibility and the climax of all the phases of a man’s life which indicates that he is fulfilled and charged the new title holder to embrace the truth.

The Chairman Nzeoba Umunnachi, Chief Basil Udechukwu noted that no fetish aspect is attached to the Ozo title taking as the ceremony is to uphold the culture and tradition of their community.

In his reaction the new Milli Enwe Ilo na  Umunnachi Chief Chike Obiechina expressed gratitude to God and pledged to respect and obey the rules and regulations governing the Nzeoba Umunnachi, while his wife Chiamaka promised to love and respect the husband as well as inculcate in their children the Tradition of their people.

Others who spoke to the ABS including the Traditional Prime Minister of Nteje Chief Beneth Chinweze, Chief Chike Obidigbo and Dr Goddy Onwualu advised the new Chief Obiechina to live above board.
