Governor Willie Obiano has called on Ndi Anambra to take active part in the ongoing free immunization against yellow fever in all local government areas of the State.
The Governor made the call during the funeral Mass for the late Mr Patrick Okolo at Saint Rita’s Catholic Church, Ichida in Anaocha Local Government Area.

The Governor’s wife, Dr Ebelechukwu among others, attended the Mass.


Governor Obiano who said that the yellow fever is a silent killer, charged people to embrace the immunization against the killer disease.

He expressed shock that despite penalties for defaulters of Anambra state COVID-19 laws, people still disregard the potency of the pandemic.
While consoling the late Mr. Okolo family Governor Obiano described him as a good family friend.


Earlier in a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor emphasized that death awaits all man, which is why everyone should strive to live an examined life.
He recalled that the late Patrick had a systematic growth in his calling, unlike what is obtainable among the present younger generation who seem to have no interest in a step by step approach to things.


Other attendees include former Governor Dame Virgy Etiaba, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor, Chief of Staff to Governor Obiano, Chief Primus Odili, members of the State executive council, the member representing Anaocha Constituency Two at the State House of Assembly, Sir Ejike Okechukwu, among others.

The Mass was co-celebrated by the Auxilliary Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye, Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Reverend Ernest Obodo and other Religious.

Until his demise at sixty, the late Patrick Okolo was the Chief Executive Officer of Pachus Engineering Limited, one of the major road contractors patronized by the Anambra State government.
