The President of Nigeria Medical Association, Professor Innocent Ujah has commended Governor Willie Obiano for the massive infrastructural development at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka.
Professor Ujah made the commendation when he led other members of the national body of the Association on a courtesy call to the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Basil Nwankwo.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of infrastructural development in the state teaching hospital, excellent services by the workers as well as various windows for capacity building of the staff of the hospital.


Professor Ujah, who is currently the pioneer Vice chancellor of University of Health Sciences, Oturkpo, Benue State, lauded Dr. Nwankwo for his leadership qualities and promised that the University of Health Sciences Oturkpo will work with Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, for an improved health care delivery.

On the issue of the discovery of COVID-19 vaccine by some medical experts and it’s subsequent use by some countries, Professor Ujah warned that the vaccine has to be subjected to clinical trials in Nigeria before use because of environmental and other factors to avoid the vaccine loosing it’s efficacy.

Earlier, Dr. Nwankwo, who thanked Professor Ujah and his entourage for the visit, said Governor Obiano has through his clearly defined health care policies and programmes, transformed the teaching hospital and assured that the visit and the commendation will spur them to do more.


Professor Ujah is on a nationwide familiarization tour of some selected hospital as the new president of the Nigeria Medical Association.
