Governor Willie Obiano has called for all hands to be on deck in ensuring adequate protection of lives and property in Anambra state.
The Governor made the call during the flag off of community policing sensitization campaign organized by the state Police Command at Women Development Centre, Awka.
Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that Governor Willie Obiano who described community policing as one of the major strategies that would help to drastically reduce crime across Nigeria, said that all the state residents must partner with security agencies to enthrone a crime free society.
While asking Ndi Anambra to always be security conscious, Governor Obiano who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, urged landlords and landladies in the state to always find out what there would be tenants do for a living before making them tenants, saying that inability of some landlords and landladies to do so have in the past made many to unknowingly harbour criminals in their houses.
In his address, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone-13 Ukpo, Mr Mohammed Danmalam said that community members are critical stakeholders in the community policing project hence the need for them to assist the police and other security agencies with necessary information, to ensure safety for all.
On his part, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang commended Governor Willie Obiano led administration and the entire Ndi Anambra for their various support to the police and promise that the police will continue to serve the state better.
The event attracted government functionaries, community heads in the state, the clergy, youth’s representatives, and security personnel.
