The Anambra State Police Command has inaugurated Community Policing Sensitization campaigns.,The Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, venue for the event, was filled to capacity with Officers and men of the Nigeria Police, sister security agencies, traditional rulers, Presidents-General, clergy, political appointees, youths among others in attendance.,

Queen Anigbogu reports that the aim of the campaign is to mobilize all stakeholders for improved participation in policing their respective communities; and to enhance security-consciousness especially during the Yuletide.,

The Community Policing Sensitization campaign followed the February 2020 Security Summit held in Enugu with the theme,” Strategic Partnership for Effective Community Policing in the South East geo-political zone”.,

Speaking at the event the Chairman Anambra Vigilant Service, Chief Ikechukwu Aduba, said the Nigeria Police does not have enough manpower and resources to cover all the nooks and cranny of the nation, hence the need for community policing to bring everyone together to become part of the security architecture of the state.,He noted that for security to be effective it must be grassroot-oriented and called for cooperation between the traditional rulers and Presidents-General.,

Also speaking the President-General of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Chief Alex Onukwue, who assured that they will continue to support the State government in giving Ndi Anambra effective security pointed out that the Anambra Vigilant Service has operational Challenges which must be addressed to enable them work effectively.,In his Goodwill message, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province Most Reverend Valarian Okeke represented by Reverend Father Celestine Aniofor, called for the beefing up of security in Onitsha as people in the area no longer go about their businesses because of fear of criminals.,

The President Youth wing, of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions Mr Patrick Agha-mba, thanked Governor Willie Obiano for being youth-friendly and appealed for more empowerment for the youths since they are major stakeholders in the security of life and property.
