Fifteen Deacons have been ordained Priests of the Anglican Diocese of Awka by the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province Of The Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim.
Other five Ordinands were ordained Deacons during the advent ordination service held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka.
Most Reverend Ibezim who and is also the Bishop, Awka Anglican Diocese told all the new priests that they are now called to work as pastors and that it is their task to proclaim Christ by their word and deeds.
Most Reverend Ibezim charged them to love and serve the people among whom they work, declare God’s forgiveness to sinners and to perform other ministrations entrusted to them.
Earlier, while examining the priests, the Bishop, Diocese of Nsukka, Right Reverend Aloysius Eze Agboh, asked them to minister the word of God and the sacrament of the new covenant for the reconciling love of Christ to be known and received even as he charged them to strengthen the faithful, search out the careless and the indifferent and to preach the word of God in the place to which they are licensed.
In a sermon, the retreatant and preacher, Venerable David Chukwudi who is the Archdeacon, Mbaukwu Archdeaconry noted that the priests were called, ordained and sent out to lessen the burdens of the followers and as well speak in sincerity and never use gospel as business even as he encouraged the laity to support, pray and assist them so as to fulfill their Ministries.
Speaking shortly after the ordination service, Reverend Linus Okeke, Emmanuel Nnamani, Bethram Igwebuonu and Christian Ibekwe, thanked God for the elevation and call to work in God’s vineyard noting that they will uphold the vows and win souls for Christ.
The priests took the oaths of submission, allegiance to God, canonical obedience against homosexuality and bisexuality administered to them by the Diocesan legal team led by the Chancellor, Justice OJ Okeke while ordination proper, thanksgiving and special renditions by the choir added glamour to the service.
