Anambra state government through the Ministry of Health has organized a sensitization training for religious leaders in the state on preventive measures against Covid-19 Pandemic second wave.

The training was aimed at equipping the religious leaders with knowledge on how to ensure that their members are safe from the killer disease as its second phase makes wave across the world .

The training  attracted members of the clergy  from Catholic, Anglican, and Pentecostal churches in attendance, as well as Reverend Sisters, and Muslim faithful.

In a remark, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala said the training was necessary as it would help to ensure that Ndi Anambra are protected from Coronavirus this time it is wrecking  second havoc across the globe.

The Commissioner urged participants of the training to step down the knowledge garnered to their members  and ensure that all Covid-19 safety protocols are strictly obeyed in their various churches.

Contributing, the Anambra state Health Educator, Mrs Uju Onwuegbuzina asked the trainees to mobilize their members for Covid-19 test for early detection and treatment, pointing out that testing COVID-19 positive is not a death sentence.

Some of the participants that spoke with the ABS including Health Coordinator Awka Catholic Diocese, Reverend Father Felix Efobi and his Anglican counterpart in charge of Anglican Diocesan Hospital Awba Ofemmili in Awka North Local Government Area, Reverend Emmanuel Egwuagu commended the Anambra state government for acknowledging that priests are one of the critical stakeholders in the fight against COVID-19, promising to transfer the knowledge garnered to their congregations in order to save them from the deadly disease.

During the event, the participants were trained on symptoms of COVID-19, preventive measures against the virus, and lots more.
