Anambra State Government has commenced Coronavirus active case search and contact tracing in all the communities across the state.

The event will be going on simultaneously in all the communities.

ABS news crew, which monitored the exercise at Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, observed that Ndi Anambra are cooperating with the Community Health Volunteers doing the job.

According to a disease surveillance officer with the state Ministry of Health, Eugenia Mgbemfulu, who led the team, their mission is to ensure that every household in the state is tested of the virus, especially this yuletide season that majority of Ndi Anambra will be coming home from all parts of the world.

Health correspondent, Chibuzor Okoye reports that Mrs. Amaka Ojene and Ezenu Benjamin from Nibo, described the exercise as necessary, especially now that COVID-19 has resurfaced again and lauded Governor Willie Obiano for being proactive in ensuring that Ndi Anambra are free from the virus.

The Community Health Volunteers, who are working in all the communities, had earlier been trained on active case search and contact tracing by the African Centre for Disease Control.

Anambra State Commissioner for health, Dr. Vincent Okplala also distributed identity cards, jackets and thermometers to the Community Health Volunteers recently to prepare them for the task ahead.

Residents of the state are therefore called upon to grant the Community Health Volunteers access to their various homes for seamless exercise.
