The good works of people are what they will be remembered for when they go the way of all mortals.

A fulfilled and eventful life is made manifest in service to God and humanity, so was the life of Late Chief Sir Emmanuel Nwagbo Madekwe who was buried at his country home Isu- Umuezedim village Oba, Idemili South.

Speakers at the burial service held in his honour at St Paul’s Anglican church Oba, testified of his commitment and good works in the house of God and to humanity.

Njideka Okoye of our editorial desk covered the burial and reports that the burial ceremony was well attended by people from all walks of life including   industrialists, transporters, business moguls, government functionaries, friends and well-wishers who came to pay their last respect to the deceased.

Earlier in a sermon, the bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Nwokolo who described late Chief Madekwe as a man committed to the work of God and service to humanity, charged people to build a God fearing family for a better society and as well ensure they maintain good stand with God so that the coming of Jesus Christ will not take them unawares.

The first son of the deceased Sir. Emeka Madekwe and the first daughter, Mrs. Chidi Okoye- Madekwe, described their late father as a man of peace and a helper to many and thanked all who came to commiserate with them.

Speaking in an interview, an APGA Board member, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka and a close friend of the deceased, Engineer Chiedu, Emelobe described late Chief Madekwe as a good man, a mentor and man of peace who impacted many lives and laid a good foundation for his family.

On their part, one of the Igwe’s cabinet members  in Oba, Chief Felix Uzor and a Knight Sir Osita  Ubadi-Ifedili said the deceased lived a good life, urging the family to keep the legacies of their father and bear the loss with fortitude.

Archbishops, host of bishops, the Knights of St. Christopher, members of People’s Club of Nigeria International also attended the burial ceremony which featured songs, condolences and other side attractions.
