Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has been honoured with an award as doyen of Philanthropy.
Mrs. Obiano represented by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Anambra State Governor Mr. Emeka Ozumba, received the award during the 2020 Symposium of the Correspondent’s Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalist, Anambra State Council in Awka.
The award was in recognition of her outstanding acts of philanthropy to widows, physically challenged persons and indigents.
Presenting the award, the Chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel Anambra State Council, Mr. Emma Ndukuba, who listed some indelible achievements of Mrs Obiano to include transforming lives of indigent persons in many ways and helping the needy.
Receiving the award, Chief Mrs Obiano pledged to continue assisting the needy and indigent persons in the state through her Caring Family Enhancement Initiative through which she has built twenty-Seven two-bedroom bungalows free and handed over to beneficiaries across the state as well as built seventeen CAFE toilets in rural areas.
She thanked the chapel for the award and dedicated it to indigent widows and the less privileged in the state.
Alongside other honorees with Mrs Obiano were the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo, who received award for her quality leadership style and AIG Danmalliam Mohammed in charge of Zone-13 Ukpo, represented by ACP Akin Fakorede.
