Anambra State Commissioner for Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue has appealed to parents to take utmost care of their children this festive season.

Lady Ndidi made the appeal during the 2020 Anambra State Children’s Christmas Party organized by the office of the wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs at the Model Community Children’s Home, Awka.

Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the compound of the Model Community Children’s Home, Awka, was filled to capacity as children from the forty-five registered motherless homes across the state converged for the 2020 Christmas party.

The children were treated to series of funfair including dance, games, side attractions and presentation of gifts by Lady Ndidi.

In her speech, Lady Ndidi, who reminded parents of the responsibility of taking good care of their children to avoid their involvement into nefarious activities, advised children to adhere strictly to the morals inculcated in them by their parents.

She thanked the wife of the state governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu for her support as well as the family of Mr. Edmond Chukwujekwu, who in the spirit of Christmas provided succor to the occupants of the destitute homes.

The Member representing Nnewi North Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Mr. Smart Okafor, described the event as awesome, creative and innovative calling for its sustainace.

In their separate speeches, the Speaker, Anambra State Children’s Parliament, Miss Faustina-Mary Okoye and the Deputy Speaker, Master Uchendu Onwe, thanked the Commissioner for creating a platform to enhance social integration and giving the less privileged the opportunity to celebrate with other children.

The event climaxed with wining and dining among the children and their guests.
