Cardinal Arinze who celebrated Christmas mass with parishioners of Regina Caeli Catholic Church, Umuoji, noted that Jesus Christ who was born to redeem mankind from sin is a Prince of peace, charging Christians to embrace peace this period of Christmas and avoid antagonism even at serious provocation.
Also, the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo has encouraged Christians not to lose hope in spite of the challenges of 2020 which affected people negatively.
Bishop Nwokolo called on Christians to pray with faith and celebrate the Christmas with joy consoling those who lost their dear ones in different ways to take solace in God who will never forsake them and to celebrate the Christmas with joy.
He advised Ndi Anambra to observe COVID-19 protocols in the face of second wave of the pandemic.
In a similar development, the Methodist Bishop of Onitsha, Right Reverend Livinus Onuagha has urged the affluent to ensure that those living around them get the feel of Christmas.
In his Christmas message to the people, Bishop Onuagha said Jesus Christ came into the world to salvage man and showed love to humanity.
He said people in celebrating Christmas should emulate Jesus Christ who is an embodiment of love and holiness.
Bishop Onuagha commended Governor Obiano for his efforts towards decongesting traffic at the Bridge Head axis of Enugu/Onitsha Express road and pleaded for extension of traffic control to Onitsha/Owerri road.
