Culture and tradition of Ndi Ekpe village, Nneyi-Umueri, Anambra East Council area was recently, brought to the fore during the celebration to mark their day.

The celebration which was fourth in its series was to continue to champion peace in the village as the day reminds the villagers of how they reconciled and made peace among themselves after a prolonged problem they had in the past.

Addressing the gathering at Ekpe square, a prominent son of the village, Mr Paul Chukwuma, thanked God for the unity, love and brotherliness amongst them, calling on the members of their community to eschew bitterness, rancour and hatred so as to come together to promote peace which will attract development and progress in their community.

Mr Chukwuma noted that it is painful that their youths do not embrace education but promised to gain admission for whoever that is interested in studying and as well offered them job opportunities even as he advised parents at the community to strive hard and ensure their wards get educated.

On his part, one of the Umeri Cabinet Chiefs, Chief Uchechukwu Nnazor, extolled the good work of Mr Paul Chukwuma in the village, stating that he has set a pace of development as they will no longer experience bad roads and other hardships calling on others to emulate him.

The President General of Umueri, Mr Pius Okonkwo noted that God has blessed the village by making them record tarred road from their son, Mr Chukwuma, saying that soon more development will set in.

In their separate speeches, the Chairman of Ekpe village, Mr Alphonsus Okeke and his Umunagba counterpart, Elder Justine Morah said they are light unto others, therefore, they should live a life of example calling on those constituting problems in their community to stop forth with.
