The Anambra state government says in view of the lifting of the suspension placed on the traditional ruler of Alor, Idemili South local government area, Igwe Mark Anthony Okonkwo, he now enjoys all the rights and privileges attached to the royal stool. According to a statement signed by Mr Henry Nwasike, on behalf of the state Ministry of Local Government, Igwe Mark Anthony Okonkwo of Alor, like the four others whose suspension were lifted, is free to perform any function as a government recognised traditional ruler, including ofala festival in his community.
The statement clarifies that the governor of the state, with powers vested in him, and based on remorse shown by the concerned traditional ruler, with pleas from stakeholders in the state and his subjects, has fully restored his position as Igwe of Alor.
