African Center for Ethical Standards, ACES, has kicked off its mentoring session for over fifty young girls in Communities towards guarding their body integrity and avoiding abuse.
The event which was flagged off at Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area attracted the academia, women leaders as well as medical experts who converged to sharpen the minds of the female child on ethical standards among others.
African Center for Ethical standards, a registered NGO seeks to improve integrity and ethics in all aspects of human endeavor in order to re-write the high rate of the prevailing impunities in the society.
Addressing the participants , the convener of the event, Retired Justice Nkemdili Izuako who was also the President United Nations Dispute Tribunal said that one of the major problems with the system in Nigeria is that it is being eroded of all ethical standards it was known for which has continued to affect the younger generation.
She noted that the selection of young ladies was influenced by the increasing blind quest for money that is making young people to get involved in all kinds of activities.
While calling on the young girls to ensure good personal development and focus on their goals, Professor Ogugua Ikpeze of the Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, described the approach by the organization as a laudable initiative aimed at preparing the younger generation for more improved lifestyle.
In an interaction, a medical Practitioner , Mrs. Jennifer Nwaolisa revealed that to achieve a good sound mind and body, young ladies should maintain constant bathing and giving attention to different parts of the body, to avoid body odour.
The organization later collected the bio-data of the participants for onward mentoring as well as presentation of improved toiletries for their daily use.
