The traditional ruler of Amawbia, Igwe Chinyelu Nworah-Molokwu, has been coroneted at Okpaligwe Square, Amawbia with prayer for him to carry everybody along.

Igwe Nworah-Molokwu, from Umueze village Amawbia was unanimously elected in 2019 to be the Monarch of the community.


The glamorous event attracted who is who from Amawbia and beyond, as people from the six villages that make up Amawbia, filled the square, including the cabinet Chiefs.

Speaking during the event, Governor Willie Obiano noted that the process of producing the king was transparent and commended the people of Amawbia for their unity .


Governor Obiano represented by his Special Adviser on Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Barrister Vera-Queen Okonkwo, advised the traditional ruler to carry his people along and put God first in all his activities .

Igwe Nworah-Molokwu in his speech thanked God for choosing him through his people and also appreciated the state government for recognizing him through the issuance of certificate and promised that his reign will be that of servant leadership.


A former Minister, Iyom Josephine Anenih, in her remarks observed that culture is dynamic, describing the new King as loved and chosen by his people, a peaceful and progressive person and advised him to hold strongly to his virtues as he pilots the affairs of the community.

The Member representing Awka South Constituency Two, in the State House Of Assembly, Honourable Chukwumma Okoyo, explained that the election that made him the Igwe was a peaceful one, which made other candidates support him without any litigation and prayed for wisdom as he ascends the throne.
The President-General of Amawbia Town Union, Mr. Ebele Nwufo , said his coronation will definitely bring development to Amawbia and the state at large.


Some prominent sons and daughters of the community and beyond also participated in the event, including Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udu, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Sir Willie Nwokoye,. Veteran actor, Bob-Manuel Udokwu amongst others.
The event was climaxed with the crowning of the king, Ijele masquerade display and dancing of the egwu ufvio by the traditional ruler alongside others.
