Amawbia Football team has emerged winner of the 2020/2021 Obizi Unity Cup competition for all the communities in Awka South Two Constituency.

House of Assembly correspondent, Chukeuemeka Modilim reports that Amawbia defeated Nibo 5 – 4  by  penalties in the grand finale of the tournament played in Amawbia Football field.

Speaking to journalists at end of the finals, the sponsor of the competition, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye and member representing Awka South Two Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly disclosed that the unity cup competition commenced with a novelty match between Awka South and North Local Government Areas.

According to him, the Obizi unity competition is designed to complement the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in reviving Anambra football and fitch out talented players he could sponsor to achieve their ambitions.

The Legislator expressed  satisfaction  that ever since he started sponsoring the competition, it has helped to engage youths in his constituency meaningfully and discourage them from engaging in unwholesome activities.

Amawbia, the winners of the competition smiled home with six hundred thousand naira, Nibo the first runners up received four hundred thousand naira, while Ebenator that finished with third position got three thousand naira as benefits from the benefactor, Honourable Okoye.

All the communities that participated in the tournament also went home with one hundred thousand naira each.

This is the first time Amawbia has won the Obizi unity cup competition that has lasted for over ten years.
