This was the situation as a one-time Managing Director of ABS; Late Engineer Theodore Onwuka Achebe was committed to mother earth, at his country home, Anogu Umuoji, Idemili North Council Area.

Aged eighty-six the deceased rose to the fourth degree cadre as a member of Knight of Saint Mulumba.

The burial ceremony commenced with a Requiem Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Umuoji.

Delivering a homily, the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Gerald Efobi, encouraged Christians to be conscious of righteousness in making preparations for eternity.

Appreciating God for his life and times as devoted Christian, who contributed to the service of God and humanity, Reverend Father Efobi eulogized Late Engineer Achebe as a good man personified.

Sympathizers, dignitaries, in-laws and well-wishers, bared eloquent testimonies and paid glowing tribute to the deceased describing him as a specimen of excellence.

In an interview, the first son, Engineer Von Achebe and one of his daughters, Barrister Oby Onwumelu, described their late father as an icon, great man and avowed Christian, whose accommodating spirit took delight in building bridges and impacting on humanity.

In his tribute, the regent of Umuoji, Chief Chris Nnaedu said Late Engineer Achebe was an embodiment of humanity and urged the children to toe his footsteps.

On his part, one of his associates and former Director of Engineering, ABS, Chief Sam Emengo, said the deceased was among the pioneers of East Central State Broadcasting Service, who brought to the fore television broadcasting, while his niece, Miss Rose Egbonu of ABS said his uncle was a peace and kind hearted man, whose magnanimity touched many lives.

For the Grand Knight of St. Mulumba, Holy Trinity Sub Council Enugu, Sir Emeka Nwaosuji, Late Engineer Achebe’s humanly disposition was immeasurable and urged the family to be consoled with the fact that their father, lived an accomplished and purposeful life.

Various groups and in-laws took turn to pay their condolences while cultural dances entertained sympathizers.
