Time was, when newsmen do not make news, they merely monitor others and report them, while remaining at the background.

But today, the trend is changing as journalists  are showing stronger presence in social affairs.

Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that  people from all walks of life gathered in Awka recently to celebrate Mr. Abuchi Nwozor of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, who marked his birthday.

In his birthday wishes, the Head of Department of Geology, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus and a younger brother to the celebrant, Professor Kingsley Nwozor, described the celebrant as a true brother and a mentor, whom he owes appreciation for his achievements in life.

The chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Mr. Emma Ifesinachi charged Mr. Abuchi to continue to lift the state media industry to enviable height through hard work.

Responding, Mr. Abuchi, who is the President, Rotary Club of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, expressed joy for God’s gift of adding another year to his life, while praying for his continuous blessings, promised to always touch humanity positively.

Some members of Rotary Club , who graced the event including Mr. Chibueze Adirika, Architect Paul Okafor and Mrs. Olachi Emegwakor remarked that the celebrant is a great Rotarian, a giver and jolly good fellow wishing him the best on his new age.

Some colleagues, including the Director of Administration ABS, Lady Tina Ekenta, Head of Commentary Unit, News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS, Dr. Emeka Arinze and  Prince Emeka Kalu among others, spoke volume of his person, emphasizing that he is a good, enterprising and independent minded fellow.

The celebration climaxed with the recitation of the Rotary Anthem and dance by the celebrant and his wife.
