Governor Willie Obiano has assured that his administration will continue to support Nigeria Legion, Anambra State chapter.
Governor Obiano gave the assurance during church service to mark the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at St. Faith’s Cathedral Awka.
Speaking shortly after the service, Governor Obiano represented by the state Head of Service, Barrister Harry Uduh appreciated the legion for rendering gallantry service to their fatherland and affirmed that his administration will continue to support them.
The Governor urged them to be weary of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic as well as be good ambassadors of the Nigeria armed forces, even as he urged them to always assist their younger ones when necessary in order to achieve a united Nigeria.
Earlier in a sermon, the Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend, Alexander Ibezim, who prayed for God to keep protecting both retired and serving officers of Nigeria armed forces, urged them to seek the face of God as Nigeria is now battling a spiritual warfare and equally prayed for a peaceful 2021 Anambra State governorship election.
Some of the dignitaries that attended the service were the wife of the governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano represented by Lady Joy Ulasi, Anambra State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Paschal Agbodike, Chairman, Nigeria Legion, Mr Agbogu and the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi among others.
The church service attracted both military and Para-military while prayers for the legion and those in active service by Bishop Ibezim formed the peak of the church service.
