Final respects have been paid to Late Sir Alphonsus Oramah as his remains were laid to rest in his country home, Umudim village Nnokwa, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state.
Late Sir Alphonsus, Known as “Organizer” aged eighty, lived a life the family members described as accomplished and that of a worthy Christian.
It was an atmosphere mixed with sorrow and joy as the members of Oramah family in company of their friends, associates and well-wishers bid final farewell to their late father, Uncle, brother, cousin and grandfather, Late Sir Alphonsus Oramah.
The burial ceremony which began with a requiem mass also saw the members of the order of Knight of Saint John International Onitsha Grand Commandery paid their last respect to late Sir Oramah who was a member of the order for thirty- five years.
Speaking at the ceremony , A younger cousin to the deceased, Chief Patrick Oramah and the elder sister to the late Sir Alphonsus Mrs Angelina Chikwendu who described the late Oramah as an accomplished community leader, devoted Christian and a peace advocate, noted that his demise has left a big vacuum in their family but expressed believe that he is resting in the Lord.
The Grand President Night of Saint John International, Onitsha Grand Commandery, Brigadier General Evarist Ubah, represented by the first Vice Grand President, Cornel Patrick Ibekwe said that Late Sir Oramah was a role model and a man of truth who has impacted the society and the church positively.
For the Special Adviser to Abia state Governor on Interstate Affairs, Chief Patrick Mgbemena and a former Director of Protocol, Anambra state Government House, Sir Charles Mbakigwe, the likes of late Sir Alphonsus are few in every community even as they prayed God to give the family and the community the fortitude to bear the loss.
A friend of the family, Chief Basil Akpanyua who explained that the deceased was known for his fight against injustice and promotion of equity and fairness, prayed God to grant his soul eternal repose.
Appreciating those that came to share in their moment of grief, Sir Orama’s Children including his first son, Mr Chimezie Oramah and the first daughter Mrs Chinwe Obiekwe noted that having him as their father was a great honor.
Earlier during the requiem mass, the Education Secretary, Archdiocese of Onitsha, Reverend Farther Paschal Onwugbenu, called on Christians to make good use of their time on earth by living in accordance with the teachings of Christ.
Special performance by the Catholic Men Organization, condolence visits, masquerade display featured at the burial.
