The Anambra State Waste Management Authority says it is working in partnership with a private firm to establish recycling plants at the different dump sites in the State to encourage assemblage of plastics for recycling.

Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the Managing Director of the Agency, Mr. Amaechi Akaora disclosed this while unveiling the programmes of the agency for the year 2021 in Awka.

According to Mr. Akaora the concession and memorandum of understanding for the project is being attended to and to make it work also, Anambra State Waste Management Authority will introduce waste separation injected estates before February.

He revealed that the programme will be extended to schools and homes as it will arrest dumping of plastics into drainages and waste beans as well as improve the internally generated revenue of the State.

Mr. Akaora stated that Anambra State Waste Management Authority is committed to working with the Medical Association of Nigeria to install three incinerators in the three senatorial Districts of the state so that waste evacuated from hospitals will be taken to designated points for iincineration.

He also urged the people to cultivate the habit  of separating plastic from the rest of waste because plastic is very much in use in terms of recycling, even as he assured that Anambra State Waste Management Authority will continue to improve on waste evacuation in the public domain.
