Teachers in Basic Schools resumed yesterday in compliance with the state government directive, to prepare the ground for student’s resumption on first February 2021.
There was Ninety percent compliance by the teachers at the schools monitored.
At Ado Girls Secondary School Onitsha, the teachers and non-academic staff of the school, were met in a meeting as they cross fertilize ideas on how to prepare themselves to effect the COVID-19 Pandemic protocol in the school ahead of first February.
The Principal of the school, Pastor Augustina Agubisi said they had to obey the state government’s directive hence they all reported to school to prepare their compound.
She assured the students that their dilapidated class rooms have been renovated and ready for their use while expressing their readiness to join hands with the state government to curb spread of second wave of COVID-19 Pandemic in the state.
At Government Technical College Onitsha, the Principal of the school Mr Mathias Emesi, commended the turnout of teachers on their resumption day saying that they have mapped out strategies on how to receive their students when they return from holiday.
He called on parents to provide for their wards all the necessary logistics to help stop the spread of the virus.
ABS earlier visited the Onitsha North Zonal State Education Board where some officers were seen at their various offices discharging their duties.
