Ogbaru Council of Traditional Rulers recently conferred chieftaincy title on an illustrious son of Ogbaru, Chief Nduka Ugboma, a man whom the community holds in high regards for his numerous humanitarian services to the people and the community.

The coronation took place at Chief Patrick Sule Ugboma´s residence at Ossamala in Ogbaru Council Area of Anambra State. Chief Ugboma bagged the prestigious chieftaincy title, Ide Ogbaru, one of the highest traditional stools in the community.

The conferment was done by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe alongside other traditional rulers in Anambra State and beyond.

Chief Ugboma is fondly remembered for his works of charity to the vulnerable and contributions to the development of Ogbaru, which include awarding scholarships to Ogbaru children, construction and constant maintenance of Ogbaru roads.

He single handedly built St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ossomala and has extended same to other denominations in his community.

Conferring the chieftaincy title on High Chief Ugboma, Igwe Achebe commended him for his good works which earned him the prestigious title.

Speaking to the ABS, Chief Ugboma, said his coronation day as Ide Ogbaru is a day he will hold with honour, noting that Ide Ogbaru means pillar of Ogbaru, describing the new level as a tasking one and called for support and cooperation of all.

Also speaking, his uncle and one of the custodians of Ossomala customs Chief Obi Ugboma, said Chief Sir Patrick deserved the honour enumerating various empowerment programs he has initiated to encourage indigent youths.

Some of his children including Patrick Ugboma Junior and Chioma Ugboma said the honour is well deserved and appreciated all who came to celebrate with them.

On his part, a son of Ossamala who came to felicitate with Chief Ugboma, Barrister Philip Chukwuma described him as a philanthropist and a perfect gentleman while praying for God’s grace on him to continue his good works of charity to mankind.

Dignitaries who spoke at the event were a former Federal House of Representatives Member Honourable Afam Ogene who Chaired the Occasion, Member representing Ogbaru in the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Chuchu Onyema, Member Anambra State House Honourable Somto Udeze, the Chairman Ogbaru Local Government Council , Honourable Arinze Awogu, Igwe Vincent Ijoma, Reverend Father Bartholomew Ogumelu, Chief Paul Isamade among other traditional rulers and top government functionaries.
