As the second wave of COVID-19 continues, Anambra government is intensifying efforts to maintain a low profile.

 

This was seen through different proactive measures by the state ministry of health to curb the spread of the deadly virus in the state.

 

Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that COVID-19 over the past ten months has held the global economy in reverse order, killed many and has affected negatively most of the world most powerful countries.

 

Nigeria as one of the affected countries is currently fighting the second wave of COVID-19 and has recorded one hundred and twenty- six thousand, one hundred and sixty confirm cases as at 28th January 2020.

 

Anambra state which is among the states with lowest cases has recorded seven hundred and twenty confirmed cases and has adopted more effective measures to mitigate the possible spread of the virus and ensure that those already with the virus are well taken care of.

Anambra Health Commissioner, Dr. Vincent Okpala highlighted few of the measures during the debut of a Ministry of Health program on ABS known as “Anambra Health Watch.”

 

During the program, Dr. Okpala while digesting the topic, “Chain of Survival for COVID-19” noted that compliance with non-pharmaceutical approach towards preventing the spread of COVID-19, early identification, early Contact tracing among others are major factors in checking the spread of COVID-19.

 

A COVID-19 survivor in Anambra, Mr. Ikenna Aniagbaoso, during the program shared his experience with COVID-19 and advised Ndi Anambra to join in the fight against COVID-19 to enable the state win the war and also reduce the hardship occasioned as a result of the outbreak.

 

Some caller’s during the program including, Chinwe from Nnobi and Chigozie from Lagos, commended Anambra state government, Commissioner for health Dr. Okpala and the survivor Mr. Aniagbaoso for their commitment towards building a safe space for Ndi Anambra.

According to them, the bold step which Mr. Aniagbaoso took have saved many.
